Your books, illustrated and explained — never spoiled.

Illumin is an EPUB reader with AI reading aids. Picture the scene, ask what a passage means, have it read aloud — and the aids only ever know what you've read so far.

Bring the EPUBs you already own — from Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive or Dropbox.

The aids see the pages you've read and nothing after them.

Reading is free, forever.

See the scene.

A picture of the moment you're reading, drawn from this chapter and none after it. Save it, share it — it carries a small mark so people know it came from a book.

Questions readers ask.

Will it spoil the book?

No. Every aid is built from the pages you've already read. It can't see ahead, so it can't tell you what happens.

Does it work with my books?

Any EPUB you own — from Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive or Dropbox. Books with DRM (most Kindle and Kobo purchases) can't be opened by any third-party reader, including Illumin.

Do I need an account?

Not to read. Reading, importing, highlights and read-aloud work with no account. A free account unlocks 3 illustrations and 25 explanations and syncs your library.

What does Free include, and what's one-time?

The 3 illustrations and 25 explanations are a one-time allowance for the account. Plus renews monthly: 15 illustrations, unlimited explanations under fair use.

Where are my books stored?

On your phone. With an account, your library and position sync through Illumin; the files stay yours to export.

Which AI does it use?

Explanations and summaries use Anthropic's Claude; illustrations use fal.ai. Illustrations are AI-generated and carry a mark that says so. Nothing you read is used to train anything.
